2025 "Marnie" Rosé

$31.00

Seeking Joy in Simple Pleasures

“Marnie” is my maternal grandmother, the matriarch of our family. One of the major qualities she displays is her ability to find joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether that be in a simple conversation, time in the garden or a well cooked meal.

This inspires us and guides our view on Rosé. It might not be the most serious or expensive wine in the market but it’s the one that can so simply deliver joy on a multitude of occasions.

REGION: Grampians, Victoria

VINEYARD: Aradale Vineyard, grown on red loam, Grampians GI, Western Victoria.

VINTAGE: 2025

VARIETAL: 75% Sangiovese, 15% Tinta Roriz (the grower uses this name for Tempranillo so I follow his lead) and 10% skin contact Pinot Gris.

GROWING SEASON: 2025 was the goldilocks vintage, featuring warm temperatures that never got too hot, creating near-perfect conditions for grape growing and resulting in beautifully balanced wines.

ALCOHOL:  12% - 6.8 standard drinks

WINEMAKING: Idea behind this wine is all about output rather than input, thinking about creating an interesting Rosé rather than focusing on the varietals. All blending components made separately. Sangiovese was direct to the press, Tinta Roriz was 5 hours skin contact and Pinot Gris was 3 days on skins. All native ferments in tank with the exception of the Pinot Gris which was fermented and aged in old French oak barrels. Vegan friendly.

FOOD MATCH: A very versatile wine. Naturally I think of charcuterie but it has the weight to be able to stand up for heavier dishes such as rich pastas or even the classic roast chicken.

REVIEWS:

“75/15/10% sangiovese/tempranillo/pinot gris. Sangiovese went direct to press, tempranillo saw five hours' skin contact and pinot gris was three days on skins; fermentation in tank except for the pinot gris, which was fermented and aged in old French oak.

The maker wanted to create an 'interesting' rosé. He has succeeded admirably with a copper-pink hued youngster that's earthy and textural and wildly drinkable. Scents rise in acacia, earth, florals, spiced apple and summer berries. Fills the mouth with subtle florals, marzipan and the brightness of red berries, cranberry and almond. But the real star is the smooth textural flow of the wine and its complexity of flavour so early in life. A top rosé.”
